Since July 2025, the French State funds, through Bpifrance, artificial-intelligence diagnostics for SMEs and mid-sized companies. It is a real opportunity to learn where AI can save your teams time, provided you do not stop at the report. Who is eligible for the Data AI diagnostic

Bpifrance's published conditions are simple:

an independent SME or mid-sized company with 10 to 2,000 employees;
at least one million euros of revenue over twelve months;
more than one year of existence, in France, overseas territories included;
any sector, Bpifrance customer or not.

The diagnostic is funded at 40% of a €10,000 base. The balance is yours to pay, which is precisely why it should not sleep in a drawer.

What the diagnostic really gives you

A good diagnostic does not say "do AI". It says: here are the three places where your teams lose time on tasks AI can do, here is the data you already have, here is the order to proceed in and what it costs. It also rules out what should not be done, which is often the most useful part.

The classic trap

The report is delivered, everyone agrees, and nothing happens, because the action plan calls for a six-month project and a budget nobody has. Our answer: split it. The first use case must fit in six weeks and prove something. The second is funded by what the first saved.

Where we stand

Kapsloc is not Bpifrance: the diagnostic is carried out within the scheme and under its rules. What we do is help you enter it at the right time, then turn the action plan into tools that run, with an engineer embedded in your team. We will also tell you, honestly, if your situation does not justify a diagnostic and a direct use case makes more sense.

The Osez l'IA plan is not limited to the diagnostic: training for managers and teams, loans to finance investments, a network of ambassadors. In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Region also funds digital projects in some sectors, health in particular, through calls for expressions of interest. Does Kapsloc carry out the Bpifrance-funded diagnostic?

The diagnostic is carried out within the Bpifrance scheme, under its rules and with the experts it mobilises. Kapsloc helps you check eligibility, prepare the application and choose the right time, then implements the selected use cases. If our role in the scheme changes, we will say so here.

We have fewer than ten employees, is there an option?

The Data AI diagnostic does not apply, but the online self-assessment is open to all, and a direct six-week use case often suits a small company better than a formal diagnostic. We start with a thirty-minute call to check.

How long does the procedure take?

Expect a few weeks between the application and the start of the diagnostic, then the diagnostic itself over a few weeks depending on your team's availability. The first use case can start as soon as the action plan is handed over.

What do we do with the report if there is no budget behind it?

That is the question to ask before, not after. We recommend setting aside, from the start, the budget for a first six-week use case. A diagnostic without follow-up costs €6,000 for nothing; a diagnostic followed by a running tool usually pays for itself within the year.

Is our data ready for AI?

Rarely perfectly, and that is not a blocker. Most useful use cases rely on documents and data you already have, even scattered. The diagnostic is precisely there to see what can be used right away and what needs tidying first.
